Thin nose bridge

Thin nose bridge skin after the Rhinoplasty find in the patients who have done the nose augmentation with silicone and have thinner nose bridge skin which expose the figure of the silicone and the skin looks transparently or in a red mark.

The causes of thin nose bridge skin are:

1. The silicone which is too narrow or too wide when compared to the underlying nose.

2. The using of too thick silicone.

3. The misplacement of the silicone on the wrong layer not under the periosteum.

4. The implantation of the silicone has been remained on the body for a long period of time, and developing capsular contracture of calcification on the capsule surface.

The silicone is the material that unable to be merged with the body s tissue, so there is the idea of using the other material as a substitution such as Goretex which can be merged with the body tissues but more difficult for the removing processes. The key point in correction of thin nose bridge is the design of the silicone, the figure and size should be suitable with the underlying nose structure along with using remaining capsule to add on the thin area for thicker skin, this method not only fix the thin nose bridge problem but also make the removing processes easier. So far the silicone is still a good choice for nose augmentation. In the case with a very thin nose bridge might need to use The tissue on the other area such asdermal graft from coccyx or temporal fascin in coordinated augmentation.

The belief that “the higher, the more beautiful” should be avoided because too high augmentation not only looks unnatural but can follow by the other complications. Focusing on making the nose shape in the suitable figure will look more natural and beautiful.
